When I was younger, even up until a few years ago, I was always left to wonder what my passion was. It's beyond crazy to me that people have such a drive for a particular field that they commit to it at the age of eighteen. I still don't even fully know what I want to do with my life, but talking to my friends has helped me find my purpose.
It's no secret that I'm a giant extrovert. I will probably always be the person starting a random conversation with strangers, so I've always known that whenever I find out what my passion is, it will involve other people.
Turns out, I had to start by thinking about my hobbies. What do I send most of my time doing? While reading was the obvious answer, I often read just to kill time, and don't read often if faced with a lot of free time. Instead, I'm usually counting down the minutes to experiencing new things – be it travel, or even experiences within the city. Doing these little things refresh me and make me feel the happiest.
An experience doesn't have to be something physical either – even a fresh conversation about something I never stopped to think about can be an enriching experience for little to no cost.
As a result, I've realized that my hobby is consuming not only media, but experiences. Out of all of the people I've encountered, the ones I'm closest to have either helped me experience something new, or experienced something new by my side. Once I figured this out, I came a long way in discovering what I was working towards and for what purpose. Although my "passion" may seem superficial and self-interested, it keeps me going.
As mentioned, an experience is only as valuable as the people experiencing it with you. As a result, as actionable goal to help me serve others through my passion is by spreading positivity. Anyone who knows me knows I have nothing but nice things to say about the people I love, especially about what makes them great as people. But that's not good enough – it's important to express gratitude, even if it's originally forced, so that one day it won't be, and you'll naturally be able to bring about positivity in both yourself and the people around you, to help obtain inner peace.
