The first week of classes is EXHAUSTING. Aside from my classes, I have other obligations that take up time and prevents me from coming home and surrendering to my bed. If your schedule is anything like mine, even the weekends don't provide completely free days to play catch up and rest.
But here's the deal y'all, you have to push through! So, here are some ways I suggest doing so.
1. Have your favorite treat in the cabinet.
There is nothing better than coming home from a long day and having your favorite treats waiting for you to keep you moving through your homework and nightly readings.
1. Indulge in the longer shower.
A hot shower at the end of the day? Yes, please! Not only will your body feel a little more relaxed and refreshed, you'll come out with a clear head and a little more of a boost to finish out the night.
3. Eat what you want for dinner.
Frequently, I come home and either feel like I have to cook dinner or that I need to have a healthy meal. Not only is this more work, but I tend to not feel satisfied just because it wasn't what I was looking for. If you've had an especially long day, do yourself a favor and have that burrito from Moes or nugs from Chick-fil-a You'll thank yourself later.
4. Take that 30 minute nap.
Let your body rest! It is a-okay to take a break so if you have the time, take it!
5. Call a loved one.
Give yourself a brain break and give your parents, grandparent or significant other a call. It'll take your mind off everything for a few minutes and you'll feel much better afterward (I swear there is something magical about talking to my mom, dad, or boyfriend.)
I'm not saying it's easy to push through the exhaustion of college; there have been plenty of times that I've said forget it and gone to bed or forgotten an assignment. But, don't beat yourself up because we're all guilty of it from one time or another.
I hope these tips can make those endless nights more manageable!
