I have pretty much been obsessed with Christmas for as long as I can remember. I get stressed when thinking about how short the holiday season really is, therefore, I usually start listening to holiday music on the 1st of November and decorate as soon as possible.
My Christmas tree in my dorm room is already set up, along with various other decorations. #noshameinmychristmasgame. If I was in the Jim Carrey version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, respectfully, I would most definitely be crowned Holiday Cheermeister (sorry Mr. Grinch).
Here are a few reasons I truthfully CANNOT wait for the rest of the world to openly celebrate the holiday season this year.
1. Christmas music is about as pure and joyful as music can get.
The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear right? (Thanks Buddy the Elf, you're my hero). Nothing compares to driving through a light snowfall, or sitting next to your Christmas tree listening to some feel good, joyful tunes. Whether it's the classics, or your favorite artists' renditions, make a playlist and put it on repeat because, well, Santa Claus is coming to town!
2. String lights everywhere make the world seem a little less dark
Walking down the street seeing little lights twinkling in the snow, on lampposts and trees, and in storefronts, is just a reminder that even the simplest things during the holiday season are radiating positively and light, literally.
3. Buying or making gifts for the people you love is one of the most rewarding feelings
Making a list and checking it twice, is one of my favorite parts about the upcoming weeks! Nothing provides the same sense of reward as giving a gift you know those close to you will love, cherish, use and enjoy.'Tis the season for giving after all.
4. ALLLLLL the Hallmark movies
It doesn't matter how predictable. It doesn't matter how many times I see DJ from Full House fall in love, the wholesome, cheesy content is the star on the Christmas tree of the perfect holiday. End of story.
5. Endless holiday treats
Christmas cookies, fudge, hot cocoa..... need I say more?
6. Shopping malls seem jolly
Seeing the hustle and bustle of individuals scouring high and low for the perfect gifts, while Christmas music floods the background and Santa and his elves take photos with bright-eyed kids... I mean c'mon... How Hallmark is that scene?!
7. The endless holiday activities
Tree lighting ceremonies, light parades, ice skating, going to see the Nutcracker, volunteering, and shopping are not only the perfect holiday movie plots, but also a real-life fantasy you get to live over, and over again throughout the season. What who in Whoville doesn't love a good Holiday Jubilation?
8. Winter break
When the holidays roll around, the last thing students want to be thinking about is school. Whether or not winter break coincidentally compliments our season of lazy, or our season of lazy occurs conveniently before the holidays, we will never really know. But, we do know that there aren't many things better than snuggling up with some Netflix holiday movies or your favorite series as the holidays move in, with no worries about papers, assignments, or exams.
9. Spending time with your loved ones all in the same place
There is something special about having those noisy nights in on the holidays, with everyone you love, all in one house. After the gifts are exchanged, the dinner is served, and the mess is cleaned up (somewhat) the love that fills the room is undeniable and something I wish I could feel all year long.
10. IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEARÂ
(If you read that in a Michael Bublé voice, you're the real MVE (Most Valuable Elf)
