Have you ever asked God where are you? Sometimes we need to take a step back and ask ourselves where are we during those times in our lives. The storms come rolling in and you feel like you are alone and you want to know where is God. In reality the question should not be Where are you Lord, but where am I? Now take a moment to think about that phrase, what does it mean to you? Several years ago there was something that I was harvesting & hiding and only a few found out about; and through their love and concern they helped remind me that God is always near his children and instead of asking Where are you, I should have been asking myself: Where am I in my heart and why I am doing this? At the time it felt like God was so far away, but in reality I was the one that was far away. When that secret came out and it was revealed, the heart-breaking truth was that God was always near me and right beside me. It showed the position of my heart and it also allowed me to clearly see that instead of asking Where are you Lord, I should have been asking where is my heart and be reminded that God is always near his children and we should be comforted in the thoughts that he remains beside us through the higher waters and that he will not leave his children.
Deuteronomy 31: 6 (TNIV) Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD you God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Isaiah 43: 2-4 (TNIV) When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you.
Matthew 28:19-20 (TNIV) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and if the Son of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
So the next time you are asking God where are you, take the time to reflect on your heart and ask yourself where are you and where is your heart and know that God is always with you and will not leave you and that He is by your side. Amen.
