I Look At My Mom And Realize We Are The Same Person, But I’m Ok With That

Like mother, like daughter.

I love my mom. Needless to say, that woman is my best friend. I know that I can always count on her to cheer me on, no matter what.

I stumbled upon a tweet that talked about the realization of you and your mother being the same person. I thought to myself, “Gee, I am pretty much my mom." Then, I realized that it was a good thing.

My mom is basically everything I want to be. She is the most selfless individual that I have ever met. She does everything that she can, to make sure that I am happy. I truly do not know where or who I would be without her as my mother.

I do think that I have grown to become more and more like my mother every day that passes by. And that isn't a bad thing at all.

My mother is the most positive person that I know. Whenever I am stressed or upset about something, she always knows how to cheer me up. I know that I can depend on her to make me laugh or see in a situation in a better way than I have before. This is probably what I love most about her.

One thing that I really admire about my mother is that she is a very good listener. She also gives some killer advice. When I am in school, I call her up whenever I miss her and we talk for hours. Literally hours. I think our longest conversation lasted about 4 hours.

The thing is, we talk about everything. Like friends. I rant to her about things like my professors, the boy I sit next to in my social psych class that smells like eggs, and all of my roommate drama. She always knows what to say and how to say it. She listens to me.

I am really okay with the fact that I might be just like my mom because she is one hell of a woman. As I said, she is truly my best friend. She means the absolute world to me. If being like my mom means that I get to be someone like her, then I am truly blessed.

I am so glad that God chose her to be my mama. She gave me a loving home to come home to and open arms that welcomes me unconditionally. I want to be a mom like her, someday.

Also, she is an AMAZING cook. I am so grateful for all that she has taught me in the kitchen, so I can be the Julia Child that my mom raised me to be.

I think that my mom is the most wonderful and the most beautiful woman, inside and out. I am proud to know her and to love her and to be her daughter.

My biggest wish is that one day, I could be half the woman that she is.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
