In college, you're going to meet a lot of different people. Your friends are going to change. You'll make new ones, rekindle old ones, or maybe even leave a few behind. However, it's important to build a strong relationship with a squad. #SquadGoals is a real thing, and having a college squad is one of the most important things to establish at college. So here are 5 reasons why it's important to have a squad.
1. There is always someone who plays the mother role, and we all need one of those now and then. Whether you're about to make a mistake and jump off into the snow, or text that boy you said that you hated, or have one more drink that she knows you shouldn't have, having the motherly friend in your squad is important.
2. You'll always have people to eat with! Of course, you'll have a group chat for your squad already made up on Facebook or in texting, but you'll always be able to send a message to the group chat and find someone to eat with. You'll never go a day where you have to eat alone! Plus, who doesn't love weekly meals with their best friends?
3. You'll always have people having your back when you're going out. Whether it's a party or an event on campus, your friends will always be there to have your back. Say you see that guy who was a jerk, or that girl who shoved you that one time in the dining hall line, or that person who broke your heart, they'll be right by your side to conquer the world with. Plus, if none of your other friends can go out, you'll always have the squad, people you're comfortable with.
4. When it feels like everyone else doesn't care, the squad will always be there to pick you up emotionally. Maybe you're home sick, maybe you're heart broken, maybe you have the flu, they're always there to sympathize with you and make sure you're okay. Maybe someone made you upset, and it feels like you can't shut off the emotions, the squad is there to wipe your tears and calm you down.
5. You'll always have people you can truly be yourself and have stupid fun with. Whether it's going to Zumba together, going to apply to jobs together, going out to restaurants, or parties, you'll always have the best people around you who get you and will make you laugh. The people who will run around and get pizza with you every Thursday night, the people who will laugh so hard with you, you're all practically crying. The people who will know every word to the weird songs you play, and the people who will forever be your friends.
Having a college squad is important, and they're the best people you'll ever meet. So go out there and find your squad!
