In society today, some individuals seem to think that one life is more valuable than another, but why is that? There are various group representing different populations in our societies such as ‘black lives matter’, ‘white lives matter’ as well as ‘police lives matter. Regardless of crime, the individuals who commits it and police brutality, every life should be viewed as being just as valuable as the next.
I feel like creating such a controversy about the value of different lives is leading to various stigmas that really affect our society as a whole such as the stigma that all police use excessive force and partake in police brutality when that isn’t the case.
Yes, it may true that some officers use excessive force when unnecessary, but not all police enforcement officers are guilty of committing such acts, which is something we need to understand as a society to end all this division and controversy over whose life is more valuable.
I believe that if we could end such a division among the various races and enforcements positions of our society, than it may also decrease the crime and excessive force used because police and suspects may not feel as if they classified under such a stigma of being excessively violent, and it may lead to a greater collaboration.
At the end of the day we all humans who have red blood running through our veins and we are all entitled to the same rights and dignity. One life should never be viewed as being more valuable than another based on superficial characteristics such as skin color, or profession.
