You're curled up under your blanket, sitting in your dorm room. It's a Saturday night and while all of your friends are out having a good time, you're afraid to feel the cold if you shove off the blanket. You pick up a book, but only read about thirty words before you're uninterested. You check your social media timelines for the tenth time within the same minute. You think about someone at home, someone you miss. You wish you were somewhere else.
You sigh.
Any of this sound remotely familiar?
I've gone through this many times in my two years at university, and it is a tough rut to pull yourself out of. When you feel like you could possibly be failing at every decision you've had to make that can dictate the entire life you have waiting for you. When your anxiety starts to outweigh your dreams. When you just lay in bed and wonder what you're doing with your life.
I suggest you do your best to rationalize your feelings. You're feeling bored-- like you aren't doing enough. Expand your horizons. This could be as simple as taking on a new hobby or learning things you thought you would never need to know.
If this doesn't do it, work on strengthening your mind. Try strengthening your body. Evaluate what exactly it is you want from your time and from your life. Once you figure it out (maybe more than once), start taking steps to get to where you want to be. Set goals for yourself, and work at a pace that is best for you. Even if you don't get to where you want to be, don't be discouraged because you will have gotten somewhere. And sometimes, that is enough.
Cheers to you all, and best of luck.
