It would seem that every year people are already looking forward to the next year as if it will be that much better. And sure, situations come that you cannot control but it's all in the perception that we have when these so-called events occur.

It doesn't matter what year it is or what the next year is going to be, it is up to you to make it count. We can choose to hold on tight to those experiences that are painful or unpleasant and cause it to poison our every thought and action.

It's all about perceptive.

You can sit there and sulk, "what about me?"

And that's the problem. In today's society, it's all about me me me. It's time to shift our mindset to the future, how can we grow. I get it, it can be extremely difficult, I am not doubting that. I struggle every day with the idea that I need to move on and look at the big picture that is sitting right in front of me. I want that time to just sit there and have the world revolve around me for just a second. But we have been taught that it's okay to turn everything back to yourself, but is that really right?

There are a lot of other problems out there that deserve more attention than the fact that someone is acting really shady to you. It's problematic that everyone is inwardly thinking when that is exactly what is causing society problems.

So, 2017, it was just another year and it might mean something different to everyone. Maybe it was one of the best years of your life and you will never forget that certain moment that that one thing happened. Maybe it was a year of extreme difficulty for you that you wish you could forget. But the thing is, even though the years could have been the one from hell, did you learn more about yourself? Did you learn how to change your ways?

Change. Is. Hard.

But change can lead you to things you never thought imaginable. So don't worry about how things happen or when they happen. You are going to get where you are meant to be either way.

So here is 2017, another year of growth. Each year is just another number when you think about it.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
