Nap time, anyone?

Entertain Yourself On A Rainy Spring Break Day

It's spring break week! Whether you're somewhere warm, somewhere cold, or just home for the break, this week gives everyone some much needed time off from the stress of school. However, what happens when you're on vacation, expecting to go to the beach, and it suddenly starts raining? Here are some ideas to keep you entertained and dry.

Go to a movie.

This is a pretty easy one to think of, but it's so perfect! There are always lots of movies that I want to see, but that I never do because I don't have the time or simply don't get around to it. So, why not go now?

Go shopping.

Pretty much every tourist location has some fun shops to keep the visitors happy, so go check them out! This can be anything from a normal mall to some boutique shops along a cute street and it's bound to be a fun time.

Explore the city.

Enjoy yourself by taking a tour of your city or just walk around (with an umbrella, of course!) to try to see the sights. You could make an end goal for yourself, like finding the best cup of coffee that you possibly can, to make the exploration even more interesting.

Buy some board games.

You're with friends, so why not enjoy their company with some board games? You can pick up some of the less intense ones pretty cheaply and they're bound to make for a good time during the rain! Just be prepared to hate everyone after a round of Monopoly.

Play laser tag.

Many towns have laser tag places and this is a great activity to do with friends while you're stuck inside for the day! It's perfect because it's something new that you wouldn't be doing at home and it keeps you having fun with your friends while indoors.

Get a really good lunch.

It's a rainy day and there's not much else to do, so why not eat? You know that you want to. Going out to a fun lunch has the double benefits of experiencing something new in your vacation town and spending time with the people who you're with, so this is pretty much a win-win. Plus, like I said, there's food.

Read that book that you've been meaning to read.

Everybody brings books on spring break and says that they're going to read them, but few actually ever get around to it. Well, here's your chance! Read away!

Take a nap.

Let's be real. This will happen whether you plan it or not. It's spring break!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
