With how cold and snowy this winter was, it is not a shock that people are everywhere around campus now that it is getting nice out. The bars are more crowded, the Green is full of chairs, sunbathers, hammocks and slack-lines, and the sun is out and shining. It hasn't even been warm enough to warrant the dorms turning on the AC for good yet. It is the perfect time of year.
I personally am super excited to open my windows, relax, and not feel compelled to dress in jeans and a long sleeve shirt every day (even though I have done that a couple times this week). It seems like when the weather starts to get nice, people bust out their best fashions. I don't own anything that's going to get me to New York Fashion Week or anything, but I wore some cute stuff in the last few weeks because it felt springy. I've seen girls rocking crop tops again as well as pretty blouses and skirts, dresses, sandals. It is a great time of year for people to start running or working out a bit outside. I saw some yoga and Pilates on the Green as well as meditation. That must be super fun in the morning when there is not much going on.
I'm excited to see if there will be more people on the Green as it gets warmer, and if there will be more on the Central Green because of the construction behind Memorial Hall. If I were a betting person, I'd say traffic to the Central Green will be higher since walking has started getting a bit congested around the construction areas.
I think there will be more activity and there are always so many activities to participate in around campus outdoors when it gets nice. I may try to plan one, and I'd encourage you to do the same.
I'm also really looking forward to walking through White Clay Creek. It's always so pretty and it is real close to campus. And just think of your Fitbit! Steps on steps on steps! And speaking of that cute little device, now is the perfect time to recommit to getting that 10,000 steps a day or getting a new walking regimen down besides going to classes. You ever walk down Main Street just to do it? I barely do, but I intend to start! Find somewhere new to walk. Find someone new to walk with. Could be fun.
Although the weather is getting nicer, it is still springtime, which means it is going to rain a bunch more and be cold and gross at times. Outdoor events are going to be on the list of things to do, but some will likely not make the cut when it starts getting windy. I hope that everyone on this campus is able to have a good time and enjoy the weather, because, let's face it, it might start to suck again pretty soon.
