I don’t know if it’s just me but the weeks before school are so exciting and that is for a multitude of reasons. Maybe it is the very idea of going back to school or maybe just finally being able to see your friends after a long and relaxing summer. Whether you’re going into your freshman year or your senior year, or you’re excited for school, back to school season is a fun time.
The idea of getting new clothes is one that excites people, being able to go to new stores and buy clothes for the year is always great. The new opportunity to stunt on your fellow classmates is many people's favorite part of going back to school. Personally, I love getting into a new hairstyle and even though my hair for the most part gets straightened, I like cutting it differently or dying it a new color. This is something that obviously happens a little closer to the beginning of the semester, but oftentimes, a new hairstyle can feel like a shifted emotional state and help increase your confidence. Another big thing for me is getting new glasses, which is what I use everyday for the entire year, so getting new glasses is another thing that helps to increase my confidence personally.
I know that many people love to go school shopping and school supplies is always a fan favorite. New school supplies helps to create a brand new slate, and a new state of mind for this up and coming school year. The new pens, new highlighters, notebooks- help you get that sense of “I can do anything I put my mind to” face on.
The most exciting thing about school is deciding what classes to take and while this is done months before school actually starts, it is always exciting to go back to studying something you really enjoy. That is one of the best things about college: you get to study what you love, not what someone decides for you. It is also the opportunity to take a new semester head on, to do your best and to learn from your mistakes from your previous semester.
No matter what you’re most excited about, remember that it is a new semester. New opportunities, new classes, new people. Remember to make the best of it and to be your best self!
