The snow has finally cleared, the birds are finally chirping, and there's that warm feeling in the air that hints summer is just around the corner. But with the parting snow comes the new worries that every college student faces around every beginning of April. Because for some reason, every professor every college student has decided that April is when a class is going to take a turn from pretty difficult to seemingly unbearable. So if you are one of the lucky people who get to experience what it feels like to be in the final month of a college year, here are just a few things for you to keep in mind as you keep moving forward.
Remember, your health comes first.
I cannot stress enough the importance of both your physical and mental health during this last stretch of the year. You will not perform at your absolute best if your body cannot keep up with how fast things are going. Therefore, remember to get plenty of rest, eat three meals a day, and drink plenty of water throughout the days. In regards to health, staying emotionally stable during this time is just as important. School is going to be stressful for a brief period of time, even more so than it was already. Make sure to be keeping up with your normal sleep schedule and maintaining a routine.
Keeping up with your normal day will be an easier way to keep your time management in check. Having that routine that lays out when you are free to study, work on that group project, or just catching up on your English class reading. This is also a good way to plan out your breaks for food, sleep, or just relaxation.
Another key thing to remember during this stressful and seemingly unending time of the year is to remember you are not any less intelligent than the person next to you. Final projects and final exams can be a trying time for any student who struggles to do their daily assignments every week. Do not judge your intelligence and creativity on just one hard assignment for just one class. There will be many more classes, unfortunately, and no matter what, you will always have plenty of time to take and pass your classes at your own pace. There should be no shame in taking your time getting through your college years. Because what it all comes down to is not how many years it took you, but the power behind your newly found degree.
So whether you are creeping up onto the trying times of your class syllabi or are just beginning to get overwhelmed by your workload as a whole, remember these few things that can hopefully help you down the long dark tunnel. You are never alone in this experience, and you will not be able to get through the rough patches ahead. Keep your head up, eyes on the prize, and just take a few deep breaths.
