The amount of articles that come across our news feed on different sources of social media, as well as other forms of reading material such as magazines is ridiculous. Never before has this occurred where every little thing is to be documented about every single situation that might be occurring around the world. In many ways this is a brilliant thing, due to the easy access of being able to figure out what is going on on the other side of the world. However, many so called "journalists" have decided that certain subjects were deemed important when in fact they aren't. So, what is an important topic to write about as a journalist? What is going to be the number one thing that many people are going to click on when they are scrolling through their news feed of thousands of articles?

To each journalist they are going to deem important to specific subject, even though it probably isn't. So what is it that the world needs to know? Is it a brutal murder of an innocent solider, or is it about who is dating who? It's the solider.

The world doesn't need to know about the private lives of celebrities or anyone of that nature, we don't need to know who they are dating or sleeping with. It is none of our business. The world doesn't need to know about the intimate moments about what goes on behind closed doors. Leave them alone, it isn't news worthy, it is not going to make a difference to our lives, and more importantly isn't going to affect our lives in way. Yes, it is great that they are dating someone that they like, or even having the baby that they always wanted, and we should be happy for them for finding their own happiness. But it isn't news worthy.

Recently the remains of Spc Vanessa Guillen were found, coming to the closure of part of the investigation. Unfortunately, Spc Guillen was murdered, and it could have been prevented if her superiors had done something and reprimanded and had protected her. Although it is an unfortunate circumstance, this is what is newsworthy. Because this affects millions of people everyday, there are thousands of women who are constantly harassed by someone that is considered to be of higher stature. And unfortunately, there are millions of women who feel as though they cannot be protected by those that they work with. Spc Vanessa Guillen's tragic death is newsworthy.

On the morning of July 5, 2020 Broadway actor Nick Cordero was pronounced dead after being in the hospital for almost 100 days due to complications of COVID-19. He suffered several attacks on his body from the deadly virus that has unfortunately taken the lives of thousands around the world, he had amputations and was suffering from respiratory issues. The news of the actor's tragic death is a cautionary tale to all of those in the United States who still for some unknown reason have decided to not heed the warnings of.

The tragic deaths of Spc Guillen and Nick Cordero are more newsworthy than a celebrity celebrating their one-month anniversary. We as journalists need to focus on the true important things out the world, and leave the private lives of celebrities, politicians, etc. alone. It is none of our business, nor is it going to affect us in the long run.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
