Teachers inspire millions to be successful...

...but what inspired me to be a teacher?

Babysitting, good teachers, kids, light bulbs and kindness.

Since the age of twelve I have been babysitting and nannying. Spending time with little kids and getting to go on adventures is one of my favorite things! I love their little smiles and laughs - bringing so much joy to my life!

Good teachers have brought great experiences and memories to my life. The teachers in my life have been constantly convincing me to give my all and pushing me forward. I want to be able to be that light in the lives of others: a friend, supporter, motivator and influencer.

Kids are the gosh darn cutest things. So sweet and giving, and a huge bonus is that elementary level students are not at the age of puberty, rudeness, boy/girl problems and sassiness. They are pure, excited and intelligent and ready to take on life.

Seeing the light bulb go off in a little kids' eyes after they finally understand something I have been trying to explain to them, the brightness in their eyes with excitement when it clicks brings me so much joy.

Elementary Education professors are also genuinely nice and willing to help. They bring snacks to meetings, help you brainstorm new ideas and support you when you go through life problems, and are constantly there for you and challenging you to become the best teacher you can be.

Teaching is a fulfilling job and gift, and I cannot wait to serve my students and be the best teacher I can be.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
