Growing up in a Christian home I've heard all the stories. Christmas is when Christ was born. Easter is when He rose again. Year in and year out I would hear the stories from the Bible. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this story. I started thinking about how I've heard these stories so much that they are practically engraved in my head and I realized that I didn't know the Easter story quite as well as I thought.
It is so easy for us to celebrate Easter; but while celebrating we forget what the party is all about. It is so easy to get caught up in the feast of the Lord, and not even know what the feast is about. It's so easy to hide the eggs and fix the baskets and spend time with family and forget the true meaning behind the gathering: Our God is good and He loves us.
That's what Easter is all about. God's prefect son, sacrificing Himself for us. Knowing that by His death we would no longer have to suffer eternally for our sin; yet live forever in Heave with our God.
But Jesus did not stay dead, and that is why we rejoice! Jesus defeated death and rose again three days later. He concurred the grave so that we wouldn't have to.
Our God is a very good God; and that is why we celebrate.
