Friday, the land of Japan was attacked with a severe earthquake killing 350 people, shaking the whole world. According to the Economist, this earthquakes ranks it as the most deadliest earthquake in over 40 years. There were many buried underneath land, needing to be rescued. It became a 7.0-magnitude event, and another addition to the catastrophic events that have taken place in the previous months and years. It shakes the minds because it leaves people worried, frantic and anxious to know what land will be next, and who will be endangered next with another massive and enormous hit.

Saturday, Ecuador was invaded with the next earthquake strike, killing a record of 77 people, and proving to be the largest earthquake since 1979. (NBC NEWS) This event had a 7.8 magnitude, causing many deaths, injuries, and burials that are still being reported. All of these events that have taken place leave us wondering, and leave us thinking, which land will be next?

What does the Bible say about these events? There have been earthquakes at a greater degree, and they are happening more commonly than they were ever happening in the past. Do you remember the earthquake of Nepal in 2015? USA Today stated that the earthquake in Nepal broke the record as the most devastating disaster in the nation, killing more than eight thousand people. In 2014, an earthquake hit China like the strike of lightning, breaking records and killing 600 people. (The Atlantic) Multiple nations have experiences multiple earthquakes at a greater degree, some of them being Afghanistan, Japan, China, Chile, Peru, and many others. The numbers are appealing and ever-increasing. Matthew 24:7,8 and 15 say the following: "there will be famines and earthquakes from place to place. All these are the beginning of the labor pains... ... And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a witness to all nations and then the end will come."

How can we explain different earthquakes happening at greater frequencies and more common than ever in different parts of the world? Science will try to explain it with facts, resources and meteorology, but God and the Bible tells us a different story. The scripture tells us that in the end times, there will be famines and earthquakes that will signal the beginning of the end times.

We have had various people in the past come and attempt to tell us when the end will come. Do you remember the year 2000? Everyone was afraid and fearful thinking that technology would crash and that things would go wrong. (VP Calendar) Or, do you remember the movie "2012," pointing to that year being the end of the world? Do you remember the "prophecy" about the end of the world in September 2015? Nothing happened! Nothing took place because the scripture also tells us that no one knows the exact date or time, but only God our father in heaven.

Is this something to be a fanatic or to be uptight about? Not at all. These are only the beginning of labor pains that we have been seeing. Ever time we see something at a greater degree, it always points to a higher level of reality. The red moon signaled to a greater level of reality also that Jesus is coming soon. We don't know when he will be back; we just have to be ready and prepared! We must be ready with our hearts and with our minds to prepare for the return of the Lord, just like he promised!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
