Earth Day was on Sunday, April 22, 2018. I love this day because it is a day for people to come together to appreciate the earth. However, I think Earth Day should be every day.
Earth Day should be every day because Earth, I believe, is something to appreciate and take care, as it is our home.
There is no doubt that this earth is beautiful; we have created so many great things and have expanded on so many ideas to make the world the way it is. However, actions have consequences. With all of these great things such as machines, food, hair products, medical supplies, stores, even arcades, comes the consequences of using our natural resources to make these fun things as we also take them for granted.
We throw plastic items into the oceans, killing many, and I mean MANY, innocent creatures where we could simply reduce how much plastic we use. Why do we need plastic? It gets used once and thrown away.
We also throw trash on the ground instead of throwing it in the garbage. Why people have to do that is beyond me; this makes the grounds filthy and pollutes the air.
We drive a lot too which is convenient but some places we can simply walk to if its around the block. Gas is a big polluter in the environment which can cause sickness and pollution in the air as well.
Leaving on a light is also using energy that releases greenhouse gases that harm the environment.
My point is, although Earth Day is a great day to appreciate the planet, we need to observe it and help it everyday. Just making better choices really does help the overall impact of the planet positively. Small choices can include throwing out your garbage, recycling bottles, walking instead driving, using florescent light bulbs instead of regular bulbs; the list is endless. Much bigger choices can also be made if you're up for the challenge such as installing solar panels, buying an electronic vehicle, eliminating all plastic from your environment, going vegan; again, the list is endless.
So please, take care of Mother Earth. She needs our help. This is our home, so take care of it.
Happy Earth Day(s)!
