So, what really does happen during the best summer of your life? It can be different for each person, but for me, there have been some big events and changes that make this summer the best one yet! Even though I am busy beyond belief, I am having so much fun!

1. You work.

A lot. I juggle a retail job and an internship, and between the two, it is very rare that I get a day off, but it is worth it. Gotta make that money somehow. It's what growing up seems to be all about.

2. You spend time with friends.

When I do get a day off, I make sure I fill it with my friends. Usually, we only have time to grab some food, but it's always fun to catch up with them and see what has happened in their lives.

3. You go on dates.

I will admit (and I am probably not the first to do so), but I have been on a lot of dates this summer and I have been loving it! It has been a lot of fun to get to know who is out there and what personalities fit with mine.

4. You cuddle with your dog.

My old man turned 13 this summer, and I want to enjoy every moment with him as he is getting older. He's definitely not as young as he used to be, and even though he has so much energy and spark, he is still going deaf and his eyes aren't that great either. I just want to love my pup for as long as I can.

5. You go to a lot of concerts.

I intern for a concert booking company essentially, and because of that, I get to be a part of the concerts they put on. I have been blessed to help with their music festival this summer, and because of my internship, I got to be a merch girl for a night!

6. You find out who is worth your time.

Some friends come and go, but the summer is when you find out who will stick with you. Luckily, I have so many friends that I can trust and haven't had to lose that many people in my life. However, I know there are people out there who have had some hard losses.

7. You make new friends!

I am happy to say I feel like I have made some friends with my two jobs, and we have had some fun together for sure! I meet new people every single day, and it is exciting to see who my next connection will be with.

8. You go camping.

Now, I have never actually gone camping for real, but I know a lot of people who do go out camping during the summer. Late nights under the stars, fires with s'mores, and taking some time to surround yourself with nature. Can't beat that. Get away from the city life for a while and take some of your closest friends or family.

9. You go swimming.

Hot days call for some time in some cool pool water. Or you can always drive to the nearest body of water. If you live in Michigan like me, you are surrounded by lakes!

10. You have (or attend) a bonfire.

A summer is never complete without a bonfire. I have seen some bonfires that are so huge, they burn whole couches in them!

11. You spend time alone.

After everything is said and done, sometimes you just need to take some time to just be with yourself and relax. Kick back and read a book, watch a movie, play some video games. Do all the stuff you don't normally get to do!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
