I've been making the commute from Mount Vernon up to Western for nearly four years now. In that time I've had A LOT of time to think. Probably more than I needed sometimes. It's a lovely drive that I've come to appreciate for a sense of peace that it offers. Although sometimes my mind tends to wonder.
Here are some of the more recent and fairly common thoughts I've had while making the trip:
1. Did I forget something?
I hope not because it doesn’t matter if I’m 30 or 3 minutes from my driveway — I ain’t going back.
2. In Star Wars canon Wookies have a 400-year lifespan...
...which would make Han Solo basically Chewbacca's third dog.
3. What day is it again...?
If you know me, then you know I sure as hell ain't a morning person. I'm sure I'm not alone in this...
4. Social anxiety is basically conspiracy theories about yourself.
I've never considered myself to be a conspiracy theorist until now.
5. Doing the math with how much further I can go when the low fuel light comes on.
I know I can make it to the Lakeway Fred Myer... but can I make it back to Burlington as well?
6. Elon Musk really did launch his Tesla into space.
That makes the average car in space nicer than the average car here on Earth.
7. Why doesn't everyone just use their turn signals?
Really, I have no idea. Someone, please explain.
8. The only part of your reflection you can lick is your tongue.
Not saying I tried, just stating this for others to ponder.
9. Is that a cop? No. What about that one? Nope.
The new rigs cops and staters driver blind in so much more from a distance now.
10. A vanilla soy latte is really just a three-bean soup.
And here I thought I wasn't a soup person.
11. The C Lot better not be full when I roll up on campus.
There is nothing worse than rolling up early to campus only to find the C Lot still full.
