Happy Fall ya’ll!!!

Welcome to the best season ever, full of the best holidays, amazing food, and the cutest fashions. I, being a fashion major and a clothes hoarder, love the Fall fashion scene. The cozy sweaters, versatile boots, and the layering make my heart happy.

However, living in the great state of Mississippi, Fall is a tad-bit bi-polar.

When I wake up for class, it is a chilly 68 degrees. Yet, when I am walking back for the day, I am sweating in the 85-degree heat. It is ridiculous. How the hell am I supposed to dress, not only for this weather, but in those cozy, heavy, amazing fall clothes in this heat?

All the boutiques are filling their window displays with chunky sweaters and knee-high boots. All the designers are sending models down the runway wearing trench coats, turtle necks, and booties. J.Crew just posted a woman in the classic ‘sweater over button-down’ on their Instagram!

How am I supposed to handle this 20-degree heat shift in the middle of the day, while still trying to look cute and follow trends?

Today, I left the dorm in leggings, a t-shirt, a hoodie, and my New Balances. By the end of the day, I walked home holding my hoodie and sweating my booty off! And don’t even think about putting on makeup or even moisturizer right now because it will just slide right off your face. Right off.

Either this Mississippi heat needs to get out or these stores need to slow down on the taunting comeback of my favorite styles. I long for chilly breezes, pumpkin-spiced lattes, and hay rides wrapped in my cashmere shawl without dying of heat stroke.

Dear the real Fall, please hurry.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
