Double standards suck. It is as simple as that. It is amazing how society thinks it is okay that one group of people can do something, and not face criticism. However, if another group of people wants to do something they will face backlash. This is the same case if both groups refuse to do something, and they speak up about the issue. This refers to double standards with females and males.

1. Men expressing their emotions are not “manly” enough. Especially if they are crying.

Men are being told to suck up the tears and be tough. If they express their emotions, they are weak.

2. Women expressing their emotions are dramatic and are always PMSing. Especially if they are crying.

Women are being told to not express their emotions; if they do, they are not being taken seriously.

For both genders, we are constantly being judged for expressing how we feel. We are humans, so yes we have mood swings. We should not be told to suck it up and pretend everything is okay. We are not robots.

3. Men are still being seen as the breadwinner.

4. Women are still being seen as the homemaker.

Seriously, both men and women should be able to cook, clean, take care of their children and work in order to pay bills.

5. Women being told they should smile more.

They are told to smile more, so why are men not told to do that? Everyone should smile more.

6. Men seen flirting with many women, are cool.

They are getting props or high fives.

7. Women seen flirting with many men are sluts.

They are getting verbally attacked.

8. Men being objectified in the media.

9. Women being objectified in the media.

For both genders, men and women are posed proactively to sell products. There has to be a better way to get your message across.

10. The wage gap.

When will men and women finally be paid equally? They both work hard to earn their money, to survive in this world.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
