“Slow down”, they tell me. “You should take a break, you deserve it.” “Do you ever stop working?” “Don’t double book yourself.”
All of these sayings and more I hear on a regular basis. As a Capricorn, I’m hard working, ambitious and responsible. These are all great things in my opinion. However, these traits can be a bit flawed as well.
Because I am ambitious and hard working, the work doesn’t stop. When the alarm goes off at 9 am, the day begins. As much as I would love to roll over and go back to sleep, it just doesn’t happen. The day is busy from time that alarm goes off until sometime around 2 am.
What happens during this time? Well, what’s the best way to get up? Breakfast. Then the daily chores around the apartment begin. Dishes have to washed from the night before and that morning and anything else that needs straightening gets done.
If the day of the week falls between Sunday and Thursday, I begin getting ready to go to work. I need clean clothes, to brush my hair and my teeth, and I start gathering belongings. I need my purse, lunch, snacks for my desk and drink for the day and my badge. Other items may include notebook/book for breaks. Yes, I do other work on my break besides relax.
Sunday through Thursday are also the busiest days of the week for school work. Sunday nightsand Thursday nights I have assignments due. Most often these assignments are finished on Wednesday and Friday to leave me time for other things.
Now, while at work other things are happening besides my day job. While at work I get two 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch. Here’s where the double booking starts to come into play. While at work I always have other work with me. On Wednesdays during my first break and lunch I’m checking up on my team of writers and checking in submissions. Often I use that time to fill out the Team Roster.Any other day of the week I have textbooks with me to get the week’s reading done. If that is finished then a notebook is always with me for writing purposes.
Fridays and Saturdays are my off days from my day job. Time to kick back and relax, right? Wrong! The work doesn’t stop just because I’m off the clock. This is the time to spend with friends. Often times when I’m with my friends I’m still working. I went on trip to Detroit, which was fun, and still turned into a piece of work.
Besides, Fridays are the day that I spend on heavy housework and schoolwork. Not only that it’s editing day. So, even with my friends I’m working. Projects and school come with me and I’m always double booked and busy. To be quite honest, I wouldn’t change it. I like to keep busy. When I’m idle, I’m bored and being double booked and working keeps me on my toes and ready for change at any time.
