Make Sure To Never Do This While Doing Your Laundry In College

I often say doing laundry in college is like a war zone, so make sure you know these do's and don't before you attempt your first time.

Do set your timer for before your laundry is actually done

Set your timer for two to three minutes before your laundry is done so by the time you get down to the laundry room the cycle will actually be complete. If you wait to get your laundry out after your timer has gone off, you risk someone else taking your clothes out for you.

Don't let your laundry sit in a washer/dryer for more than five minutes

Don't be that person who leaves their laundry in the machine for much longer than necessary. Nobody likes that person. Remember: it is a communal laundry room, and other people are trying to do their laundry too.

Do take other people's clothes out

This is only acceptable if you've been waiting for a washer/dryer for a considerable amount of time. I know it's annoying when you've been waiting for a long time, but give the person one or two minutes after their load is finished to get their stuff; if it takes them longer than that, I say go ahead and use that machine. Make sure not to drop anything when you're putting their clothes on top of the washer or dryer.

Don't be afraid to ask for help

Doing laundry for the first time in college can be a bit overwhelming and confusing, so don't be afraid to ask for some help! I think I called my mom three times during my first time simply to double check I wasn't messing things up. Other students in the laundry room will help you so don't be afraid to ask; who knows you could make a new friend out of it!

Do get a retractable laundry basket

This will be your new best friend. Because it's retractable, it saves a ton of space under your bed or on your closet shelf. I think it's much easier to carry back and forth from your dorm room to the laundry room than a laundry bag.

Don't wait until the last minute

Don't try to do three weeks of dirty laundry in one cycle; it's not going to work. You're going to be doing laundry all day, and you're going to end up using at least two machines at once which will make everyone else very angry.

Doing laundry in your dorm isn't terrible, but it can be frustrating at times when people don't respect each other and the machines. Make sure to follow these do's and dont's for an easy time in the laundry room!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
