As people know, over the last century, Christmas and Easter have both become extremely secular holidays. People have forgotten all about where Christmas and Easter came from, or why we really celebrate the holidays.
I myself used to be Catholic and used to consider myself one. Then, I started to consider myself a Christian. Now, I don't anymore. I don't really know what I am religiously speaking; I don't know what I believe in.
Over the years I have come to realize that Christianity is hypocritical and judgmental and I do not want to be a part of what it has become.
I have a roommate who is Christian and super into her religion. She has been passive aggressive to me lately. Well, the other night, she wrote on MY whiteboard in the kitchen, "He is Risen!". It really made me angry so I took the whole whiteboard down and now it is in my bedroom.
I get that it's the Easter season, and I have decorated the apartment with Easter decorations, but putting stuff out that is religious is on whole other level for me. It's just inconsiderate without having any disregard to other people's religion and how comfortable they feel with people they are living with displaying it in a common area.
I'm already annoyed with how the south displays itself in terms of religion and Christianity. You cannot get on the highway around here without seeing a billboard that says something like "Jesus saves". Eye roll.
I was also already annoyed that this same roommate, in August, brought up a huge cabinet for the whole kitchen that is made out of plywood, unpainted, and has Bible verses all over it. It is in the kitchen for everyone to see. I have had friends over and they almost can't believe someone would bring that without asking. They think it's ugly and offensive.
Thank God I'm moving out soon. Get it? Lol.
