Don't Rush To The Season Finale

Why must we be so excited about going to the next thing?

Everyone knows that all the best shows have you hanging on the edge of your seat until the very last episode. During the first episode, we get the basic plot line. This is so-and-so's life and this is their struggle as of right now. We then go through their ups and their downs until we finally reach the long awaited last episode of the series. During the last episode, all the questions get answered. Who will the person end up with? Will their biggest problem be solved? Will they live happily ever after? We just need that to be answered right when we begin the series and cling onto that idea throughout the entire thing.

We are trained in our lives to always have a goal. Go to school, go to college, get a job, get married, have kids, get old, die. We always look forward to the next thing, never enjoying the moment we are in. We look forward to summer because we don't have school but look forward to autumn because it's far too warm. Why must we as a society do this?

I am definitely guilty of doing this. When I watch a TV show I only look forward to the ending because I just have to know how everything ends. In my personal life, as I was in middle school, all I could think about was being in high school. Then I got to high school and all that was in my mind was college. Now that I'm in college, all I think about is the future. I'm trying to rush to my season finale when I'm probably only on my fourth season.

Why is it that we never pay attention to what is happening right now? We live in a society where everything is rushed and once one thing is over, we are right onto the next. If we sat back and actually enjoyed whatever season we were on in our own personal stories, we would probably feel a lot happier overall. I am letting this become a goal of mine because although I am excited for the last episode of the last season of my journey, that means it is ending. There is no reunion. There is nothing else. That is it. Why must we look rush to that?

My goal is to live in my current season and take in every second of it. Each show has its ups and downs, but that is what makes it more enjoyable for the audience. They went on a journey with the person from start to finish, so why can't we all just enjoy going on our own? I want to enjoy the fifth season just as much as the last, not forcing myself to rush through it. There is no point in rushing anyway.

My advice: take time to enjoy ALL of your seasons. Who knows? Your fourth season may be way better than your finale anyway. As long as you are present and enjoying yourself, there is no stopping your seasons.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
