Why You Don't Need To Wear Makeup Every Day

You're already gorgeous.

Why You Don't Need To Wear Makeup Every Day

I'm at the age where wearing makeup is an everyday thing. Girls wear it to school, to work, sometimes even to the beach. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But I feel differently, which is why I rarely wear makeup at all.

Maybe it's because I was a huge tomboy growing up and never understood why girls put stuff all over their face. Or maybe it's because, despite not always liking the way I looked, I thought wearing makeup all the time would make me dependent on it.

To me, makeup is what you use to accentuate what already makes you beautiful during certain events. It's not something you add to your daily routine, along with the time it takes to apply it. I'm not shaming the people that wear makeup every day, that's your decision and I respect it. However, it's nice to know that people see my untouched up face every day. It makes putting on makeup a little more special.

You see, I've heard so many people say, "When I don't wear makeup people always tell me I look tired or sick." I never want to deal with that. Those comments, while intended to be ones of concern, end up reinforcing the mindset that we need makeup when in reality, we don't. People just aren't used to seeing you without all the glamour that they've become accustomed to.

Each and every woman is beautiful, both with or without makeup. You should never feel like you have to wear it in order to be beautiful because that is a lie. And to be honest, when you don't wear it as much it makes it much easier to wow people when you get all dolled up.

For example, this is a picture of every day me. This is actually a picture of me as a bum, but it's essentially what I look like every day.

Nothing special, just comfortable. It keeps getting ready easy and faster than most. Now here is me in full makeup, even eye makeup which I kind of hate.

This is not a common thing for me, so on this day, I felt like everything was on point. It was more special than it would have been had I worn makeup every day.

I guess my point is, you should never feel like you have to wear makeup every day. You're beautiful no matter what and you should feel confident enough to flaunt your natural skin, and every now and then feel like a model. The choice is up to you; I feel like all girls should be free of the feeling that they have to wear makeup every day. In reality, it is an expensive and time-consuming process for someone who is already gorgeous.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
