College Is The LAST Place To Give Up On Things You Love

It can be frustrating when your favorite activities take up a ton of time, but don't give up, you can make this work.

Life is too short to not do what you wanna do.

If you follow me on twitter, you know that I am infamous for using five or six tweets to express my thoughts on a current situation happening in my life.

Most recently, I went on a very passionate rant about how I think college students shouldn't settle for just one thing they love. When you move from high school to college, it can be slightly terrifying to think that you'll have to only pursue one thing to make sure you keep your grades up, and I wanted to tell the world this.

Tweets provided below:

That being said, I want everyone to know I'm not trying to brag about myself. I'm one of the first people to talk about how terrible I am at something, or vent about how bad my day or night was.

I don't think I'm some kind of special student who's figured out her entire life within her second year of college. That couldn't be any farther from the truth.

Being involved in so many things definitely has downsides. My days are almost 13 hours long, and I get to come home to do homework for another two or three hours before I can finally get some sleep, and do it all over again the next day.

While I am still getting a balanced diet, I only get half an hour or so to scoff it down, and run from classes to rehearsals to meetings, not to mention save enough time to study and keep my social relationships healthy and thriving.

If I'm lucky, one of my professors cancels class and I get an hour or two to myself to relax, and take care of some things before I'm back to the grind.

How do I keep up with all of this?

It's simple really, I just absolutely love what I do.

Somewhere, some time long ago, someone had said, "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." That's a quote I take very close to heart, and it will always have a ton of meaning to me.

I don't see what I do as a 'job' or 'work', not only because I'm not getting paid, but because I know that I'm pursuing my passion and doing things that I love.

"Is it worth it?" you might ask? To me, of course it is. These are things I can't imagine living without and want to somehow keep them close in my adult life.

So yes, if you love it, of course you should keep it around. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do things that aren't related to your major or school work.

Do what makes you happy. You'll thank yourself in the future.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
