Why You Should Stay Away From Astrology

Many of us follow our horoscopes, whether it's through newspapers, mobile apps, and/or real-life fortune tellers. The stars can be exciting to follow because it provides a hypothetical analysis of our personalities, likes/dislikes, dating/friendship compatibilities with others, and much more. However, the problem with hanging onto astrology too much is that we may start to believe it too much and use it as a guide for real life. Hence, I will discuss some more explicit ways in which astrology could lead you astray.

10. Living by the contents of astrology can cause you to judge people according to their sign’s description instead of real personality traits.

9. Exposing yourself to astrology may allow you to pick and choose relationships based on zodiac signs that are compatible with yours, though it may not actually be a healthy relationship in reality.

8. Comparing and contrasting each description in astrology may make one sign appear more superior than another, leaving you feeling inferior to another sign and vice versa.

7. Reading the future sector of your horoscope will cause you to live according to a prediction, rather than your own inclinations. This will leave you feeling mentally weak, and unable to live a life of your own individuality.

6. You may fall into the trap of believing that all the descriptions about a person and their sign are true, even though they may not be. Establishing a poor mindset like this will lead you to lack the ability to distinguish truth from fiction.

5. It goes against many family traditions and religions. Many religious faiths, such as Islam, have strict policies when it comes to attributing man-made spiritual affairs to a person’s own life. In many cultures, such as Bangladesh, Yemen, and more the belief in astrology is prohibited because according to many holy scriptures, only God can predict the future and know everything about your life.

4. There is no physical proof that astrology actually exists. Surely, one can argue that the alignment of the stars and planets dictate one’s likes, dislikes, and habits, but this is only a theoretical hypothesis based off of naturalism. However, there is no actual scientific method or reliable source of evidence that proves that all people born under a certain zodiac sign are prone to acting the same.

3. Following astrology narrows the opportunity to live a limitless life. By characterizing everyone’s personality traits and bringing up our future success/failures, people will fail to realize opportunities that they are capable of achieving merely because nobody of their sign has ever done so. You must instead, discard all negative attributes of astrology and focus on proving the critique of your sign wrong.

2. Following astrology, every single day ruins your life by allowing you to live a life of expectations that may not necessarily happen. This is a severe downer for you because it can lower your self-esteem, especially if you have a hard time accepting constructive criticism or if you are overly sensitive. Try to drive away from reading your horoscope if that is what it will take to give you a more pleasant outlook about yourself.

1. The final way in which astrology clouds your judgment is that it begins to irritate you and those around you when you constantly base every situation off of who is what zodiac sign. It may prevent a good conversation from prevailing because its subject matter is vague rather than intellectual. It is better to discuss matters that will inspire you, benefit you, help you succeed in real life, etc. rather than spend your time on something that may not actually exist.

Now that we've underscored the overall negative impacts of Astrology, I would hope that you realize that you're better off living without hanging onto the influence of astrology. Instead, focus on following events in the real world rather than false, unproven, imaginary theories.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
