Some may say you have the “dreamers disease” but in college, that isn’t the worst disease that you could catch. Being a girl with champagne taste on a dollar beer budget, I dream of the day I’ll be able to afford more than 2 items off the dollar menu at McDonalds. In all seriousness, dreaming out loud has helped me reach most of the goals I have accomplished so far.
Talking about your dreams may get tiring or even a little annoying to those listening to them. But the more you hear yourself say the dream that's on your mind, the easier it is to accomplish it. I dreamed of going to a school far away from home but never told anyone until it was the last possible second to send in my application. It was hard to accept the fact that I might be leaving home and taking on a new adventure by myself. But once I got more confident in my choice of accepting that letter from The University of Tampa this dream did not seem so impossible anymore.
As a communication major, I get asked what my plan is after graduation. Well, my answer every time is “I’m going to be a news anchor on the TODAY show.” Most look at me in awe at this response and ask how I plan on getting there, and at the moment I’m not quite sure. But if I keep telling myself that is where I’m going to end up, I’m going to have to find a way to get there.
These dreams don’t always have to be big. In the wise words of Dj Khaled, “you can never run out of keys.” The key is to be happy, the key is to be successful, heck, the key could be anything you want to make it. So maybe your dream is to pass anatomy or to date the guy that sits two seats over from you in your 8 am.
So be proactive, accomplish those dreams, and kick some ass!
