For Arizonians, 100 degree weather is pretty tolerable, but when it hits 115 we all go fleeing indoors. Lets be real now, no one wants to leave their precious air conditioning to socialize. Especially when you could fry an egg on the sidewalk. Or two. Never fear, there are actually plenty of things to do in the desert we call home. Here are some of them.
Phoenix Art Museum
Open Tuesday through Sunday, the Phoenix Art Museum has plenty of exhibits to explore. Whether you're six or 60, this is the spot to come admire hundreds of art pieces.
Odysea Aquarium
Odysea Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the southwest. Aquariums are always a fun alternative to zoos when the temperature hits the triple digits. Plus, who doesn't want to ooo and ahh at the colorful jellyfish and dozens of fish species?
Lake Pleasant, Lake Havasu, Or Whichever Lake You Stumble Upon. There Are No Beaches Here
This option is a great way to cool off while still being outdoors. You can swim, jet ski, or simply lay out on a towel under some shade. Just don't forget the sunscreen.
Waterparks
If you don't feel like taking a trip to the lake, head over to the water park. These provide fun attractions sure to cool you off.
Staying In
If you want, truly just have a day in. Watch some Netflix, play Twister, bake cookies, whatever happens to be your cup of tea. Sometimes, the heat can be too much and it is perfectly okay to call one in.
At the end of day, get out there and live your life! Don't allow hot summers to hit the pause button on your life and leisure. Living in Arizona forces you to be more creative on things to do, but that doesn't make it impossible and makes the challenge even more exciting. Stay hydrated, stay cool (literally and figuratively) you desert dwellers.
