Social Distancing Has Brought Me Closer to Christ

Corona, you've helped put my focus in the right direction.

Social Distancing Has Brought Me Closer to Christ

The entire concept behind social distancing is to limit how many people you surround yourself with and how close you get to them. Yes, I've been spending my time in my house just like the entire world, but I've truly never felt closer to some people within my life. More importantly, I've never felt closer to Christ.

The thing about social distancing is that it gives you a lot of free time. We all have the power to do whatever we want with this time. Some individuals decided to pick up baking or a new hobby. For me, I decided to pick up my Bible.

I decided that this time at home was the perfect opportunity for me to create a set length of time each day to sit down and put all my focus on Christ. Before now, I've considered myself too busy with my days to set ten, twenty, or thirty minutes for time with Christ. The thing is, it wasn't that I didn't have time; it was that I didn't have the correct priorities.

Over these past days, I've started daily devotionals, not only on my own but with others as well. One of the best things about technology is how connected you can be with others. The Bible app allows for multiple people to join in on a devotional and discuss it, which is so beneficial during a time such as this. We cannot physically come together, but we have the opportunity to come together spiritually. Churches may be canceled, but the Church will never be canceled, for we, Christians, are the Church. For where we gather, whenever we gather, even if it cannot be together, He is present.

I have put all my trust in Christ during this time of stress, confusion, and worry. Just as it says in Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

Christ has directed my path. He is directing me towards Him; He is directing me towards those who I can grow in my faith with. Christ has led me to people and relationships that I've never had before. Christ is leading me to converse with others about Him and how powerful He truly is. Christ is leading me to a life of love, happiness, and faith.

I could not be more thankful for this time that I have had to reassess my life and put myself in the right place with the correct people. I pray that everyone takes the time to pray and thank God for everything that we have, as well as pray for those who are being affected by this virus.

Do not be afraid. Do not doubt Christ at this time. Do not lose faith. Now is the time for our faith and our trust in Him to skyrocket, for we do not know the plans He has, but as long as we trust in Him, it will all be well.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

5 Simple Ways To Give Yourself Grace, Especially When Life Gets Hard

Grace begins with a simple awareness of who we are and who we are becoming.

If there's one thing I'm absolutely terrible at, it's giving myself grace. I'm easily my own worst critic in almost everything that I do. I'm a raging perfectionist, and I have unrealistic expectations for myself at times. I can remember simple errors I made years ago, and I still hold on to them. The biggest thing I'm trying to work on is giving myself grace. I've realized that when I don't give myself grace, I miss out on being human. Even more so, I've realized that in order to give grace to others, I need to learn how to give grace to myself, too. So often, we let perfection dominate our lives without even realizing it. I've decided to change that in my own life, and I hope you'll consider doing that, too. Grace begins with a simple awareness of who we are and who we're becoming. As you read through these five affirmations and ways to give yourself grace, I hope you'll take them in. Read them. Write them down. Think about them. Most of all, I hope you'll use them to encourage yourself and realize that you are never alone and you always have the power to change your story.

Breaking Down The Beginning, Middle, And End of Netflix's Newest 'To All The Boys' Movie

Noah Centineo and Lana Condor are back with the third and final installment of the "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" series

Were all teenagers and twenty-somethings bingeing the latest "To All The Boys: Always and Forever" last night with all of their friends on their basement TV? Nope? Just me? Oh, how I doubt that.

I have been excited for this movie ever since I saw the NYC skyline in the trailer that was released earlier this year. I'm a sucker for any movie or TV show that takes place in the Big Apple.

Every single one of us has a story.

How Young Feminists Can Understand And Subvert The Internalized Male Gaze

Women's self-commodification, applied through oppression and permission, is an elusive yet sexist characteristic of a laissez-faire society, where women solely exist to be consumed. (P.S. justice for Megan Fox)

Paramount Pictures

Within various theories of social science and visual media, academics present the male gaze as a nebulous idea during their headache-inducing meta-discussions. However, the internalized male gaze is a reality, which is present to most people who identify as women. As we mature, we experience realizations of the perpetual male gaze.

It's Important To Remind Yourself To Be Open-Minded And Embrace All Life Has To Offer

Why should you be open-minded when it is so easy to be close-minded?

Open-mindedness. It is something we all need a reminder of some days. Whether it's in regards to politics, religion, everyday life, or rarities in life, it is crucial to be open-minded. I want to encourage everyone to look at something with an unbiased and unfazed point of view. I oftentimes struggle with this myself.
