As You Love To Remind Us, Mr. Trump, You're The President. Now Be A Leader

Leadership has nothing to do with seniority or someone's position — you're not a leader automatically just because of your title.

Dear Mr. President,

Both former President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush have spoken out about politics in today's society. Both of these men are from different political parties, yet they both have issues with the current state of politics, and you know what?

So should you.

During his speech, Bush said the following, "Our governing class has often been paralyzed in the face of obvious and pressing needs. The American dream of upward mobility seems out of reach for some who feel left behind in a changing economy. Discontent deepened and sharpened partisan conflicts. Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication."

America is supposed to be a place where people can come to earn freedom, but how can anyone gain freedom when we are quicker than ever to attack people for who they are?

Students are being punished for using anti-LGBTQ language, as they should be, but what good does that do when the president is speaking at anti-LGBTQ events?

This has nothing to do with whether you support LGBTQ rights or not. It does, however, serve as one example of many where our President is not leading by example.

He is not showing the country what it means to be a good leader.

Leadership has nothing to do with seniority or someone's position — you're not a leader automatically just because of your title. You're a leader because you take the role you have and use it as a pathway to serving as an example for others.

The president has the power to show the public what it looks like to be humble, to make inclusive decisions utilizing those who advise you, showing strength in times of hardship among other various qualities.

Leaders don't put those around them down or make them feel poorly. If something needs to change, they make that change but in a constructive not destructive way.

Leaders don't act as though everything is perfect 24/7 nor do they let something go on that is harmful to the area they are leading.

However, right now we are in a situation where a leader leads by tearing others down and focusing on people's looks instead of their talents and abilities.

This political culture needs to end or it's going to continually tear us apart--perhaps so far apart that we won't be able to pull ourselves back to the place we used to be.

As former Presidents Bush and Obama show--this has nothing to do with party lines anymore. It has everything to do with the way our leader is influencing others to act and behave and treat others in this country.

Enough is enough, America. We know the difference between a bad leader and a good one, so let's start acting like it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
