I bet you guys are ecstatic that I am going to be home really soon. I know Mom has probably told you that I’m coming home for the summer quite a few times. You’re excited; I bet you both are wagging your tails at the thought of your favorite sister being right at your side every second of the day for the summer. To prepare for my arrival, I bet you’ve gathered all your favorite bones and toys to give me right as I walk into the door. I’m guessing you’ve practiced your barking and jumping too so that when I come home, I’m going to feel like you both haven’t seen me in years.
I know you guys probably think that this is going to be one of those visits like the last few times when I’m home for two days and then I leave again. Those visits make you two so sad. I already hate not being able to be there for you both when those thunderstorms get a little too loud, being able to comfort you when you think the vacuum cleaner is going to eat you, and being there to calm you down when you think the pizza guy is going steal your bones. Thus, it pains me so much to see you guys watching out the car window with the bluest looks on your faces as you drop me off at school yet again. It is like I gave you both a brand new squeaky toy, let you play with it for five minutes, and then took it away from you again without telling you when I am going to give it back. Leaving you two for long periods of time without letting you know when I am coming back is a really rotten thing for me to do and I am sorry. This isn’t going to be one of those of those kinds of visits.
We are going to catch up on all of the things that we have missed. We are going to play as many games of fetch as your little hearts content. We are going to have the coziest snuggle sessions; whenever I sit on the couch really for anything (like for reading a book or eating food), I know you two will be my little book ends and we will keep each other nice and toasty. We are going to have to pack nine months’ worth of snuggling into three months, but I know you guys won’t mind. I know our parents won’t approve of this, but I am also going to feed you both as many treats as your little tummies can handle. I am not just talking about those dog biscuits you both love, but I am for sure going to sneak you some scraps of your favorite pizza and turkey too. I mean, I am the fun sister, right?
I can’t wait for all of the fun we are going to have. We are going to get to go on so many fun adventures. We are going to go on the longest walks, exploring the grasses, trees, and the other animals living next to us until one of you stops and makes us go home of course. We are also going to make sure to go on one car ride together this summer, just the three of us, to somewhere you haven’t been before. I can’t wait to share all of my little secrets with you and tell you how college has been for me this year. You guys will hear it all; you’ll hear more than anyone else I know. I hope you two tell me of the mischief you have made and the fun that you have had at home when I was gone too. Even if you bark my ears off, I still can’t wait to listen.
When it comes time for me to go back to school, I know it is going to be even harder for you than it was the last time. I want to make sure that you know that I think about you two every single day even when I am not home. If you miss me, just remember that when you look out the window for intruders at night and see the stars lighting up the sky like fireflies, I am looking at the same glittering stars as you. When I am away, make sure that you sleep on my bed to keep it nice and warm, steal my socks to remind Mom and Dad who's boss, and keep being the most loveable creatures and best dogs that I am always excited to come back home to.
Lots of Love,
Your Favorite Human Sister
