Chapter 1: Tears

In the midst of the night, she was walking down the dim street. She knew she wasn't supposed to walk here, especially at this time, but what was she to do. Living with her abusive father doesn't make anything better, for the most part she just wants to end her suffering. She had lost her mother and older brother whom she held close to her shattering heart, when she was young. Her father went into paranoia and now never stops drinking, making her do almost everything for the household.

There she was, tightly grabbing ahold of the grocery bags whilst trudging against the pressuring winds on this mid-winter night. She made it all the way through and entered the dreary house, a place that used to be filled with happiness turned dark.

Her father was snoring, lying on the recliner in front of the television, beer bottles scattered everywhere. She quietly went around to pick up the empty bottles on the floor. Last time she accidentally dropped a bottle while picking them up and the glass shattered all over the place, that time she couldn't even sit down in class.

"All done." She mumbled to herself. She took the grocery bag that was filled with snacks for herself and tip-toed to her room upstairs.

Eunha lied there on her bed, stroking her silver locket staring at the ceiling. She opened the locket and looked at the family picture they had taken several years ago. There was an empty slot within the locket, which Eunha kept thinking about.

**

'Why is this space empty mommy?' a young Eunha asked her mother.

'Because, my lovely,' her mother crouched to her daughter's level, gently stroking the little girl's hair. 'This is where a special someone's picture will go.'

'But mommy,' Eunha protested, whilst tugging her mother's pink dress. 'You, papa, and Mark are my special people.'

Her mother chuckled softly at her daughter's remarks. 'That is so darling, but you haven't met this person yet.'

Young Eunha began to whine about who this person was to her mother. 'When will I meet them mommy?'

Her mother was dragging the blue suitcase out her son's bedroom to his car. It was just as Annie remembered it. It was the day her brother was to go to college, but the last day the young child would see her mother and brother.

Her mother placed the last suitcase in the car and scooped her daughter up. 'You will meet them soon Eunha honey. They will come to you when you most need it, they will come like your guardian angel.'

**

The flashback faded off into the distance within her mind. Eunha slid off her bed and walked over to the window, gazing off to the glimmering sky. A star suddenly flew across the sky, and as childish it sounds, she made a wish that night. A wish that she hoped would come true.

"I wish," She started. "I wish for that guardian angel who is to save me from this hell to come soon. That angel that my mother said who would come when I most needed them." Eunha gripped the locket tighter, closing her eyes as she wished.

Eunha awoke the next morning with several spam messages from her one-and-only best friend, Lilly. Anytime Eunha needed an escape from the hell she was living, she would drop by Lilly's house, where she was warmly welcomed.

Weirdo— "HEY!! There is a new transfer student in our school and I heard he's pretty good looking!"

Weirdo--"HEYYYY!! WAKE THE FLIP UP! Get your butt to my house and we'll go together. Let's see this good looking guy everyone is talking about??!

Eunha lazily replied back to her hyper friend.

--"Geez"

--"Alright, I'm waking up."

--"I'll meet you at your house in 10 min?"

Lilly wasted no time to reply back.

Weirdo--"UHHHH.....heck yeah!"

Weirdo--"See ya' in 10 bestie :D"

Eunha placed her phone face down and went with her daily routine in the morning.

**

She creeped down the stairs to see if her father was still at home. Quickly, she glanced everywhere, and to her joy her father left for work a little earlier than expected. Eunha skipped down the stairs in glee and ate a complete breakfast, before grabbing her belongings and headed out the door.

Lilly was impatiently waiting on her front yard for Eunha. Once she saw the other female, she threw her arms in the air out of frustration.

"Do you know how long you took?" Lilly expressed sarcastically, tapping her feet and invisible watch simultaneously.

Eunha giggled. "Whoops sorry. I didn't know being a minute late was going to be a big deal." She said, rolling her eyes.

"Just kidding ma' friend." Lilly said, nudging her friend to the side.

"So, about this boy?" Eunha inquired.

"Ugh, why would you care anyway? You're too smart for a guy." Lilly scoffed, pushing Eunha to the side a little.

"Hey! That doesn't mean anything. I need something interesting in my life anyway, my life has been terrible right now." Eunha said.

Halfway through the conversation the two ladies were having, they had arrived at school gates.

"But you know," Lilly continued. "I don't see him as my type." As she said those final words, she accidentally bumped into an ebony-haired boy.

"Oh my! I'm so sor-" She clasped her mouth shut, when she realized the guy she bumped into was non-other than the school cutie, Jackson Stevens. He ruffled his hair and chuckled at Lilly's sudden quietness.

"Ahh, that's okay Lilly. It happens." The muscular boy said, showing off his bunny smile. He walked away, leaving Lilly's mouth agape.

Eunha manually shut her friends' mouth and lightly smacked her behind her head.

"Lilly, let's go."

So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
