Calling all movie lovers! If you enjoy seeing movies in theaters but don't always have the money, there is an affordable option. It's called MoviePass. It's a subscription service that allows you to see up to one movie a day for only $9.95 a month. I learned about it recently from a friend after hearing that he had seen 44 movies in theaters in 6 months! At first, I thought it was too good to be true, and there had to be a catch. However, he vouched for MoviePass and the freedom and savings it gives.

I found out more information before signing up by reading MoviePass's FAQs. You can see a movie a day each month, but no repeat movies. They also recently introduced a new feature called Peak Pricing, where you have to pay a fee to see a movie or time that is in high demand. You will be able to waive one peak fee per month if you absolutely can't wait to see the movie at another time. The deciding factor that led me to try MoviePass was the savings.

Sure, it's unlikely that I'll actually see 30 movies each month, but I don't have to in order to save money. Cinemark, the theater I frequently go to, has tickets ranging from $4 for a matinee ticket to $6.25 for a weekend ticket. They also have discount Tuesdays where tickets are only $3.25. If I only see 3 matinee movies a month, I'll save money. If I see a movie every weekend, I'll save money. Now I have the freedom to see a movie whenever I want without having to worry about the cost. This is especially nice since in connection with my concessions refills that also save me money. If I can muster up the self-control to not get popcorn every time I see a movie, then I save even more.

Once you register for MoviePass using their app, you have to wait for your card to arrive in the mail. The card is basically a debit card that is loaded with the ticket cost before you pay so you can just swipe it and be done. The downside is that the estimated wait time is 2 weeks before the card arrives. Luckily, I only had to wait for about one week. The next step is registering your card on the app. I had some problems with mine, so I wasn't able to use it to pay for my ticket to see Ant-Man and The Wasp. Thankfully, MoviePass reimbursed me the cost of the ticket.

The first movie I saw with MoviePass was Ocean's 8. The process was quick and easy. All you have to do is find a theater, movie, and time, and then click check-in on the app when you are within 300 feet of the theater. Your card will then be loaded with the cost of the ticket, and you have 30 minutes to pay for your ticket. The only potential downside to this is that a movie could be sold out by the time you're able to get your ticket. You can't check-in and purchase a ticket until the day of the showing. Even if you try to get the ticket hours before the showing, you may not get it in time. I have not had this problem yet, but I assume it does happen.

While there are other movie theater subscription services (Cinemark Movie Club, AMC Stubs, Sinemia), MoviePass looked like the best deal to me. If you have a friend who has MoviePass, they can refer up to three friends who will receive their first month free! What are you waiting for? MoviePass is accepted at over 91% of theaters nationwide! Give it a try and experience the joy of the movies without breaking the bank.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
