No Matter What You Do, Don’t Ever Be Silent

It's time to speak up for what you believe is right.

No Matter What You Do, Don’t Ever Be Silent

No matter what you do, don't ever be silent.

When you know something is wrong, speak up.

Don't let anyone tell you not to talk. Don't let anyone ever tell you that what you are saying is wrong. If you know in your heart of hearts, that what you are saying is the right thing to do, then don't back down. You should never be told to be quiet. Your voice is a weapon. Learn how to use it and use it wisely.

Too many times, people stay silent because they are afraid. Afraid of what other people will say about them. Afraid of what the consequences might be. Don't be afraid. If what you believe is truly the right thing, then don't ever be afraid.

Sometimes, silence can be necessary, but not when you know you must speak up. If no one ever spoke up in life, then we would never learn or grow as people. Hundreds of years ago, if none of the colonists spoke up about wanting to separate from the British, then maybe we never would be our own country.

Your voice and your words have so much power to change the world so don't let a little fear get in the way. It's okay to be scared. It's okay to be fearful of what people might say about you. It's not okay to sit back and watch injustice take place when you know you could speak up.

Sure, you could say nothing and live your life and that's that. But, what if you did find that courage and stood up for your view? What if someone told you that what you could say has the potential to positively change the outcome of a situation?

What if Rose Parks stayed silent? What if survivors of the Holocaust stayed silent after the war and never told their story? What if women never spoke up and said that they deserved the right to vote?

History will always repeat itself, but not if people speak up.

The words you say will not fall on deaf ears. Someone will listen and all it takes is for one other person to stand up with you.

One word, one sentence, one moment of courage to use your words has the potential to alter the world.

Don't ever be silent.

Speak now and transform the future.

You have the power to do that.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
