Keep Your Head High, Good Things Are Coming

"And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone"- 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15

Is there someone in your life who is in desperate need of help (emotionally, physically, mentally, etc.)? Do you wish with more than your heart to help them as much as you can even when you feel completely helpless? Are you someone who sews their heart on their sleeve 24/7?

I'm a mixture of all of the above. Admittedly, I am a stubborn one. Especially when it comes to helping those even at my most helpless moments. Sometimes I can come off strong on the outside but underneath, I'm a weak-hearted, fragile, and vulnerable soul. On the other hand, who isn't stubborn? It is part of human nature and no one on this earth is made perfect. I'm stubborn when it comes to accomplishing certain tasks on my to-do list (even when it feels like it is out of my control), believing the good in everyone (even when I shouldn't), and doing something completely out of my comfort zone (such as writing these articles). Confession: I sew my heart on my sleeve, end of story.

Living in a tough and hectic society, it's hard to offer or accept help; either it gets turned down or the help offered and given is taken into a different direction. We are all our own worst enemy. That's a fact. And the only person that we need to help is ourselves.

Life can be overwhelming sometimes. There are moments in which you want to say "f*** it, I want to stay in my room and never come out" or the infamous line of "I don't want to adult today." Best described as a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, peaks, turning points, happiness, and a mixture of inexplainable emotions, life is nothing but a variety of adjectives I can't even explain.

I believe in helping others regardless of all circumstances. For the good and bad, it's important to believe and look out for everyone even when you feel that you shouldn't. In this tough and hectic world, we all gotta breathe, have some faith, and seek help when we need to. So let's stay in the present, be fortunate and happy for what we have, and do the best we can in expressing gratitude and courage at all times. Most of all, let's look out for those in need.

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
