Returning to campus for the school year can be very exciting. You're ready to see your closest friends and determined to get closer to earning your degree. I'm sure there are several things that other students like to do when they get back to school; these are the things I recommend doing!

1. Spend some time with your best friends.

You've probably been waiting to see your college friends for months! It's hard to see each other over the summer because we get really busy, and often times, college friends do not live near each other. Friends have the ability to make your college experience a success! So, take the time to hang out with each other before classes become stressful. Whether you guys have a movie or pamper night in the dorms, or get food at your favorite restaurant or the dining hall, it's all about spending time with each other and catching up!

2. Organize your living space.

Whether you're living in a dorm or an apartment, it's really helpful to make sure everything is set up as soon as possible. This will help ensure that you know where everything is so you aren't scrambling to find your notebook or favorite shirt before the first day of class. It will also help you have a clear mindset. It's hard to focus on important things like grades when your house or room is a complete mess!

3. Familiarize yourself with the town again.

My college town is pretty quaint, but there are some real gems throughout it. Maybe during the summer you were craving a donut from that one bakery near your school; treat yo' self! Walk around to see all the little stores and scenery the town has to offer. I'm sure you'll be flooded with memories from past adventures with friends. This also gives you a chance to decompress from moving in or clear your head.

4. Set up your planner.

Not everyone uses planners, but those of us who do know they are a necessity for preparing for school to begin. I always like to write my class schedule in the monthly view of my planner just in case I forget which day I have English class. I also like to color code my classes, clubs, and job. It can be really fun to pick which colors you want to use too. For many, it's also calming and relaxing to set up and decorate a planner. Just take a few minutes to get your creative juices flowing and make sure you're prepared for the upcoming weeks!

5. Have some alone time.

Move-in is such a busy time. You see your friends again and are trying to get back into the swing of things. Some of us need some alone time after all the hustle and bustle. One of my favorite things to do is to get a snack, some coffee or tea, turn on one of my favorite shows on Netflix, and snuggle into my bed! It's such a nice, relaxing break from being social and busy. I'd also call my parents to update them on the first few days back to campus and to check in on them. Whatever you do, make sure it's something that will make you happy and will give you time for yourself.

Hopefully, trying these things when you return to school will put you in the best mood and help you feel prepared for the semester!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
