Have you ever been in a situation where you want to bake some sweet treats but you either do not have access to an oven or just do not have the patience to wait for something to bake? I was in that situation last year with a broken oven and the desire to bake a sweet treat for my family's Thanksgiving feast. That's where I got the idea to make my own chocolate chip cookie dough balls. The ingredients are safe to ingest raw, so there's no need to worry about salmonella! I thought I would share this recipe with you so you can make your own chocolate chip cookie dough balls, too next time your feeling some lazy cookie-making.
You are going to need the following nine ingredients:
1. All-purpose flour (you can use a substitute depending on individual dietary restrictions)
2. Unsalted butter
3. Granulated sugar
4. Light brown sugar
5. Salt
6. Milk (or almond milk, again, depending on dietary needs)
7. Vanilla extract
8. Chocolate chips
9. Melted chocolate (optional)
Here's how to make these little delicacies:
1. Place one stick of unsalted butter, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of brown sugar into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Stir by hand or with an electronic mixer (it would be easier with the mixer, however, if you are unable to find one and have to mix with your hand, remember to wash your hands before mixing, even if you already washed them before starting).
2. Add 1 1/4 cup of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix well (for mixing instructions, see step 1).
3. Gently fold 1/2 cup of chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough. Once distributed, place the dough in the refrigerator and let it chill in there for approximately 30 minutes.
4. Once the dough is hardened, remove the bowl from the fridge and roll the dough into two-inch balls. Place the balls on a baking sheet with wax paper, and place the baking sheet in the freezer for approximately 30 minutes, or until the balls are entirely hardened.
5. Once the balls are hardened, remove the baking sheet from the freezer. (THIS NEXT PART IS ENTIRELY OPTIONAL) Warm-up 1/2 pack of melting chocolate in the microwave, dip each ball in the chocolate using a fork and place each ball back on the wax paper.
6. (AGAIN, THIS PART IS OPTIONAL) Top each cookie dough ball with one mini chocolate chip each before the chocolate hardens on its own.
7. Enjoy!
And that's how you make some delicious chocolate chip cookie dough balls that your family and friends will enjoy for the fall season and the holidays. Not only are these bad boys safe to eat raw, but they're also quick and easy to make (grant you, minus the time it will take for them to harden in the freezer and chill in the refrigerator). Think about wowing your next crowd with these chocolate chip cookie dough balls during your next family gathering or party!
