These days, skin care products are gaining in popularity. With prices rising, even in drug stores and Wal-Mart, the prices can be more than those on a budget can afford. On top of this, many people are no longer comfortable with the number of chemicals that are in many of the products. Sites such as Youtube and Instagram show beautiful tutorials with couture products that few people can actually afford.
Many crafters and natural beauty guru's have come up with the answers. Do-It-Yourself beauty products. Most of the ingredients are all natural and things that you could find in your home any day. They are simple recipes and take little time. Here are five DIY beauty products that are a must try.
1. DIY Lip Scrub
This easy recipe only calls for four ingredients and a container to hold the finished product. With vanilla extract, granulated sugar (or brown sugar), food coloring (which is optional), and olive oil, you can make a lip scrub that not only tastes good, it exfoliates the lips and makes them soft and smooth. My favorite recipe for this is on the site DIY JOY.
2. DIY Sugar Wax
This recipe is fun and will last for a long time. All that is required is granulated sugar, water, and lemon juice. Mix these together then bring to a frothy boil. When the concoction is about a medium brown, then put it in a container to cool. It should be thick but malleable, then smooth on the area in the direction of hair growth, give it a minute to set, then pull in the opposite direction. You can find full directions on Style Tips101.
3. DIY Floral Bath Salts
Everyone needs a little time to themselves to soak in and de-stress. DIY Projects has a list of 17 DIY floral bath salts, that are relaxing and smell amazing. Personally, I love the Orange Green Tea Bath Salts. This only requires Epsom salt, orange juice and a couple of bags of green tea, mix together and there you have it. This recipe was found on Wonder Forest.
4. DIY Spa Trio
This one is a beautiful mix of natural elements with just a little food coloring to make it pop. It starts with a skin exfoliator made from sugar, coconut oil (I'm definitely a proponent of anything made with coconut oil), peppermint essential oil and a bit of food coloring. The exfoliator will gently get rid of the dead skin and make your skin soft.
Second is the whipped body cream, made with pure cocoa butter, coconut oil, peppermint essential oil and food coloring. This will help to soften any dry skin. Last, there is the foot soak to relieve tired worn feet. It uses Epsom salt, baking soda, sea salt and peppermint oil. You can find this recipe at Pop Sugar.
5. Green Tea and Rose Face Cream
This one is a little more pricey and is the most complicated on the list. It boasts such ingredients as Jojoba oil, alkanet root, rose hydrosol, and clary sage, and the preparation can be intense, but the benefits from this is amazing. It smells wonderful, it is softening and easy to use. The recipe for this can be found at Simple Life Mom.
These five DIY beauty products are easy to make, fun and inexpensive. It's worth giving a try if you are on a budget, or just don't like the copious amounts of chemicals they use in beauty products today. Not only this, but you can put your own twist and make it your own. It's a great way to save money and get creative.
