To me, memories are incredible little fragments of time in the human mind that holds great experiences. I think everyone should have a special place where they can create memories with important people in their lives. Whether it’s at home, a restaurant, or even a park, I think it’s nice to have a place to always fall back on whenever you feel the need to walk down memory lane. I love the idea of having a place to go to and whenever I’m at that particular place it brings back many memories from previous visits with different people. For me, Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure are my happy places that I love to create memories at. I’ve been a Disneyland fanatic ever since I was a little girl growing up in the ‘90s, so I thought I’d share some of my recent memories from my happy place.
Ever since I was a little girl, my parents would always take me to Disneyland. When my younger brother came along, we always bought the 3-day ticket deals that they offered whenever we had the extra money. My parents would rent a hotel across the street from both of the Disney Parks and we’d stay there until we used up our 3-day tickets. I remember walking across the street from the hotel, being excited because I was so close to my happy place. Let alone, I was with the most important people in my life – my parents and my little brother.
When I first came to UC Irvine, I knew that I would be less than 30 minutes away from the Disney Parks. I went to the parks once last year as a freshman with some of my closest dorm mates and it was an unforgettable experience.
Fast forward to this New Year – 2016.
After long years of dreaming that I’d have one, I finally got around to buying a Disneyland Annual Pass. I could safely say that it was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Since the day that I got the pass, I’ve gone twice and both times were incredibly memorable.
After buying a pass, I got the chance to grow closer to my new group friends that I met this year at UC Irvine. One of the people in my new group of friends has been a close friend of mine since high school, while the other one is my roommate. The other two are new friends that I made this year. All five of us now call our group, “SQUAD.” Along with SQUAD, two of my other friends who do not attend UC Irvine came with us on this trip, which made it even more memorable. Those two friends were my friends from high school. My favorite memory of that particular Disney trip was when we went on Mickey’s Fun Wheel, which is basically a Ferris wheel in California Adventure. On that particular ride, the riders have the option to go on a swinging gondola or a steady one. My friends decided to go on the swinging one; I wanted to back out because I had a bad experience the last time I went on it due to my motion sickness, but I decided to just get on it and create new memories with them. After getting on, I realized that I had forgotten how scary the swinging gondola was; therefore, all I did was link arms with my roommate and scream my mind off until the ride ended. My friends and I enjoyed the entire ride; all we did was laugh at my screaming and our jokes we made on the ride.
The memories that I mentioned in this piece are just some of my many memories that I have created at Disneyland. I have so many memories dating back from when I was a little girl to Grad Night in high school. I know I’ll create more memories this year and in the years to come at my favorite place.
I wanted to share my new Disney Parks experiences from this New Year because it just comes to show that both Disneyland and California Adventure are such great places to create new memories for me with my family and friends. Disney is also a place that I have cherished so closely to my heart ever since I was a little girl. Growing up as a young adult and being at Disney brings back so many memories from my childhood, which makes me really happy.
I think it’s an important thing to have a special place that makes you happy and allows you to create amazing memories with your closest friends and family members. For me, it just happens to be Disney. I hope that you get to find a happy place to make amazing memories because good vibes in a special place with loved ones are always the best memories that you will always look back to in your future.
