On the Disney College Program, you will want to take advantage of going to the parks whenever you can. But what happens when you have no one to go with? Your friends and roommates are all working or have plans. Well you could always go to the parks by yourself. Don’t underestimate this idea. A lot of people say it’s overrated, weird or awkward, when actually, it’s a whole lot of fun!
Yes, the parks are better with people. But when you’re in a group, you have to keep up with everyone and pick and choose at attractions or characters and to where to eat, etc. Which, now don’t get me wrong, I love going to the parks with my friends. Most of my favorite memories are with them. But when you’re at the parks by yourself, you’re free. You can go at your own pace. It is so nice. Sometimes I went character hunting while maybe riding two or three rides. And sometimes I just sat down, had some ice cream and observed. Observing is actually really fun.
When I was waiting on a fast pass for Cinderella and Rapunzel, I decided to grab a snack and sit down in Fantasyland along the castle walls. I watched as families hurried to many attractions. I watched as young girls dressed as Cinderella went into Fairytale Hall so excited and full of energy to meet Cinderella. Honestly, it was like seeing the magic come alive and taking it all in.
The first day I went to the parks by myself, I was kind of scared about it. I’m not going to lie it did feel kind of weird. But after my first ride, I was like this is awesome. What do I want to do next? I would go to my app and look at wait times, see who was out for meet-and-greets and then I went off on a new adventure. I stopped and watched Dream-A-Long With Mickey, then decided to go meet Aladdin and Jasmine. It was so nice. I went and ate at Cosmic Rays and just enjoyed the day. I was free at my own pace. I loved it! I even lost my sunglasses on Space Mountain. My mom kind of freaked when I went by myself, but I wasn’t really worried and always took precautions. I always felt safe. I even FaceTimed her in the Magic Kingdom. I think she actually enjoyed that while she was at work. I met so many characters that day, and rode a good bunch of rides. Even met Gaston, who took a lot of selfies. I had many more days by myself after that. I remember riding Expedition Everest five times in a row, because I was a single rider. Although riding Dinosaur by myself was a bad idea. Still working on that ride. And Hollywood Studios, I would go to see Beauty And The Beast Live at least twice and riding Tower Of Terror twice with new friends that I made in the queue. It was awesome.
I love the experience of going to the parks by myself. It’s nice to go at my own pace and just take it all in. There’s so much magic to take in. I loved every minute of it and made so many memories. I even made friends that way too. Don’t push off the parks because you have no one to go with. Go by yourself and have fun!
