Dear anti-Clinton Democrats,

In November of the year 2016, you went to the polls to make a choice. Granted, this choice was between what were undoubtedly the two worst presidential candidates in all of American history, but that does not mean that there was not a better option between the two. For whatever reason, when you went to that polling place and cast your vote, it was not for the candidate of your party, but a member of a third party, or perhaps even for Trump, but why?

If you identify as a Democrat, Hillary Clinton was the only real choice. Yes, I am aware that she was under investigation for her private server, but Trump was also under investigation for the Trump Foundation, and he still is under investigation. Besides, when it comes to Benghazi and her emails, there were multiple inquiries and hearings both by Congress and the FBI, and do you know how many of those hearings were able to uncover evidence of any wrongdoing? Zero! They threw everything they possibly could at her and she dodged it all.

Yes, I am aware that she doesn't seem as genuine as Barack Obama or Bernie Sanders. Obama carried a message of hope and change that young Democrats across the country resonated with back in 2008 and in 2012, and now people are complaining that all Hillary is promising is four more years of Obama. Hold on a minute...didn't you like Obama? Why would four more years of something that you wanted and voted for be a bad thing? Even if she was promising something different, I don't care if she rubs you the wrong way.

We're voting for the next leader of the free world, not homecoming king, and Clinton was far and away the most qualified person on the ballot.

I also get that Bernie Sanders also inspired you with a message of hope and change and free stuff, but he lost the primaries. Even if you think the Democratic National Convention rigged the primaries (which they probably did), he still lost, and instead of getting pissed off at the DNC and Hillary or voting third party, focus on the policies you want getting into the White House. I mean Gary Johnson is as far from Bernie Sanders as anyone can get, and Jill Stein didn't even know what the hell she was talking about, but you voted for them over Hillary because it was the "lesser of two evils"

Well, guess what, your actions have consequences.

While you did all of your grandstanding at the polls, Donald Trump is making the Supreme Court conservative for the next three decades at least, and not voting for Clinton won't be a choice you look back fondly on when all of those 5-4 decisions start rolling in. In fact, they already have; the travel ban, gay wedding cakes, abortion rights, and unions cases have all decidedly gone the way of the right. Now, Trump is appointing another justice, and there's talk that the Court could now overturn Roe v. Wade. So the next time you see a candidate who you agree with but they seem kind of creepy, suck it up and vote for them because splitting the vote only increases the chances that the guy you don't want to win starts resting his feet on the desk in the oval office.
