Recently, the unjust deaths if Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd have catalyzed a nationwide fight against systemic racism, police brutality, and the general oppression that Black Americans experience daily. Many activists have taken a stand to ignite a change, so here's how you can too. Personally I have shown my support by signing petitions, sending emails, using my social media platform, and supporting black-owned businesses. Donating is a great way too! I know most people don't think about it but next time you decide to buy Summer's Eve how about buying Honey Pot instead? My birthday is approaching and I've made an appointment with a home-based Bronx nail tech, and have bought my vegan lashes and lipgloss from a black-owned company. I know these changes seem small but it is all about helping in your own way and imagine if we all did it? Next time you want UberEats why not order from a black-owned restaurant?
My point is now is the time to do something. Silence is complacence! Making you apart of the problem, choose not to perpetuate violence! Can't protest because your immune system is suppressed, no problem use your spare time to amplify black voices on social media. Open up the uncomfortable conversations. Speak up against racism and injustices. Be the change you want to see in the world. -Mohandas Gandhi
