A well known, Christian Hip-hop recording artist, Dee-1, is native from Baton Rouge, New Orleans. He graduated from Louisiana State University to become a middle school teacher, and ironically, he is a true owner of his 1998 Honda in which he post multiple segments about his car on social media.
He produced 10 EP mixtapes, in which he dropped his latest EP, 'Slingshot David'. Nevertheless, a hit song that he produced on YouTube, "Sallie Mae Back", brought over 800,000 views making the video to be be viral throughout the nation. His main purpose was to let others know that he understands the struggling behind paying for college loans, and to deliver a message to everyone to continue to reach their goals no matter what the adversity.
On February 25th, 2016, a popular celebrity talk show, "The Real" briefly interview Dee-1, and allowed him to perform his viral hit wonder. During the segment of the episode, co-host Don Lemon asked Dee-1 what his shirt that he was wearing represented.
Dee-1: "Mission Vision is all about called Three's up, and this is how I live my life. It stand for Be Real. Be Righteous. Be Relevant."
The message behind the meaning of each statement that he believes is not only a shirt logo, but a product of why and what he lives faithfully by and for. By being real, outspoken individual, and responding to God's Word, he also make sure that his actions lead to be relevant to lives that are broken, and lost.
Overall, it may seem like this dreaded, high socks up-to-knees, toboggan wearing young man seem to be judged as a trouble-maker. But, in reality he is Christ-believer who wants others to live a righteous life, and that waiting to have sex until marriage is highly favored.
