I wrote these poems for my 11th grade English class after reading The Great Gatsby! The idea was that Gatsby wrote these letters to Daisy when they were apart but never sent them. He kept them hidden for years, until their reunion.
My Darling Daisy,
I wrote this letter especially for you
To prove that my love for you is true.
You are my eternal sunshine
I hope you'll forever be mine.
Meeting you was like winning the grand prize
Especially when looking into your beautiful eyes.
The moment I saw you my heart was sold
I dream that together we will grow old.
Daisy, you mean so much to me
I'll love you forever, that I guarantee.
Eternal bliss is where I'm bound
In your arms is where it's found.
While I am at war
I hope your heart will forever soar.
In the clouds above our heads
Ridding ourselves of all the dreads.
And even when I go away
The feelings I have for you will stay.
My love for you made me grin
To walk away now would be a sin.
I want to look in your eyes forever
My desire for you can never be severed.
It is you the one whom I love
It hit me like a gentle shove.
All of you is what I need
I count the hours until my love is freed.
I look forward to our next moment together
Without you, I feel life does not matter.
Forever Yours,
Jay Gatsby
My Dazzling Daisy,
I now feel our time has come
I finally hear the fat lady hum.
I find there is an eerie calm
Because you have yet to leave Tom.
While It seems on a whim
I suggest you say you never loved him
Though I loved you so
Tomorrow's meeting fills me with woe.
Since I have cared for you so long
This verse sounds like a country song.
Full of laughter, blood, and tears
It's time you left him after all these years.
Forever yours,
Gatsby
