To The Best Littles A Big Could Have

Dear little one...

I made a promise. After I got back from Europe, I started painting your paddle, and I had no idea there were going to be two of you. I wanted to paint something that meant the world to me. I wanted you to have something that I created and you could have forever. I painted a paddle based on Moana and the sea.

Your grand big said, "what if your little doesn't like the ocean?". But then she realized how silly that sounded, because if you didn't like the ocean, then you just wouldn't be my little, duh!

When I met you guys, I just knew.

Val

Although we technically didn't have a sister date arranged, it all happened how it was supposed to. Aside from the fact that we are both Colombian, we just hit it off. You were so happy and eager to see what sisterhood was about. Now four months into your freshmen year, I don't see the same happy person I met. I know it's probably the winter, but I want you to know how much I love you. I will be here every step of the way, no matter how hard.

Mariah

We first met at the Halloween movie night. You were the first girl that reached out to me, and straight up asked me about ROTC. Right then and there I knew. You are so silly, and always have a smile on you, I couldn't help it! Just know that your big loves you, and I could not be more proud of the person you are, it takes a lot of discipline to do what you do as a freshman. Anytime things start getting a little overwhelming you can knock on my door!

I know it’s impossible to be perfect, but I wanted to be the best big you guys ever had. No matter what you guys do I promise to be there no matter what. I know that being a big is just a title. Whether you are in this sorority or transfer, I will not stop caring about you guys. After I met you guys I made a promise to guide you the best way I know how. Wish I could be there every step of the way, but that would be impossible. All I can promise is to be there, to be emotionally strong, so I can pick you up when you’re feeling a little weak. To make you laugh a little when all you want to do is cry.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
