Dear Senior...

You are not too cool for high school.

Graduation

Dear Senior,

The time is almost here. The time where you say goodbye to the school that has shaped who you are, introduced you to your best friends, helped you find your passion in life, and gave you something that will always hold a special part in your heart. Time is flying and change is coming.

Enjoy these next months that you have left as a high schooler. Enjoy your morning rides to school jamming with your best friend at 8:30 am because that is soon to change. Enjoy collapsing on your couch in your cozy living room after a long day of school and eating your favorite home-cooked meal, because that will soon change too. Realize that you will never be as young as you are now. Sure, we have all heard that cliche saying before one too many times, but it could not hold more truth. Quit complaining about going to practice and having to do sprints all alongside your best friends. You will miss playing sports or being a part of that one high school club you ever associated yourself with, despite how involved you are with it.

Lastly, go to prom despite how much planning it requires. Celebrate this last school event with your friends and cherish every second. Those memories and pictures from prom night will be everlasting.

On the last day of school, be sure to thank any and every teacher that has impacted your life at the slightest bit or in the most drastic way. Those teachers deserve your thanks and truly appreciate it.

High school holds some of the best four years of your life despite what people say. It will only take the day you step off of that stage with your high school diploma in hand that you will realize it. Life will never be so easy as it is now. Times are changing and although it is a lot to handle, it is all so exciting.

Just realize how lucky you are at the point of life you are at right now. Think about all the greatness in life that has passed, but how much greatness there is to come. It is hard to envision making the big transition from high school to college, but you will soon not only realize how amazing high school is but also how amazing college is. You will discover friends you genuinely question how you have lived so far without them in life. You will live in a 4 x 4 dorm room, but that dorm room will hold some funny college memories and will truly feel like a mini home.

Appreciate the good days now and do not think you are too cool for high school. Love it and cherish it. But, get excited for what is to come.

To the senior reading this, you are truly about to embark on the most amazing journey in just a short few months. Take a few breathes. You've got this.

Sincerely,

An Almost College Sophomore

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
