Dear Seattle,
When people think of the great cities of The United States, they usually think of New York City or Miami. But honestly, they should think of you.
Even though I am more than 3,000 miles away and have only spent a few days with you, I still can't get my mind off of you. You are one of the most multifaceted cities in the world. You have a beautiful outdoor/ indoor market, outstanding architectural feats, and colorful art displays.
Pike Place Market is far from overhyped.
It does not just have some of the best food, it has flowers and art of every color and shape. Huge fish lay on mountains of ice, and the mixture of smells fills the hundreds of people's noses as they walk by. I'm not gonna lie Seattle, you are not exactly handicap accessible, but that's okay. It's a place where non-athletic people like myself wish they could run along the coast or bike up your many hills.
I have never felt so in awe of the power and beauty of man's creations until I visited Chihuly Garden and Glass. What one man could do with glass is awe-inspiring.
I walk into a dark room and was overwhelmed by light. But this light came from inside colorful glass from above and in front of me. Then we walked into a large greenhouse with orange and yellow flowers hanging from the ceiling. It's crazy how something so beautiful could look so graceful hanging from more glass.
The Space needle seemed overrated, I honestly didn't even want to visit it. I am low-key terrified of heights and did not really feel like going up hundreds of feet in an elevator of doom in less than 30 seconds.
But, I was forced- parents ya know. It was one of the best things I have ever been forced to do. The view was absolutely stunning. I saw every inch of you, Seattle, and you are beautiful. The way that the Pacific flows into the city and the mountains break up the landscape into tall snow-capped peaks.
Looking around the city, from a point of mass advantage, I knew that you were the city for me.
I will see you soon,
Sydney
